FAQs
HOW CAN I GET A CUSTOM DOLL?
Fill out this form or contact me with your idea and a photo and we can get started. Personalized dolls begin at $72 and can go up if adding accessories, textured (not straight) hair, a skirt/dress, or striping as these things all take extra time to crochet. The more detail you want, the more time it takes, the higher the cost will be.
What Type Of payment do you accept?
I accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and PayPal. All payments on this website are processed through PayPal but you don't need a PayPal account to use the service. I cannot accept personal checks at this time.
Do you sell & ship outside of the United States?
At this time, I only sell and ship within the USA, but feel free to contact me, anyway. I may change this policy before I can update it here.
What types of things inspire the creativity behind Eclec•centric?
Glad you asked! My inspiration comes from historical figures, people I admire, fictional characters, people I see out & about, and of course, from YOU! I honestly love creating custom dolls more than making ones I dream up. Check out my Instagram page to see what I've recently worked on.
the color i want is not in your color charts. do you offer more colors?
What? 48's not enough for you? Ok, I can only keep so many yarns on hand. If there's a color you want, find a nice image of it and send it to me. I'll see if it or something similar is offered by my yarn suppliers in my brand & style. If it is, I can order it at no extra cost to you, but the whole process will take at least a week longer as I'd have to wait till I receive the yarn before I can begin to crochet. If you want things sped up, I'd have to pass the expedited shipping cost on to you. In the event my suppliers don't carry the exact color you desire, I will present you with the closest matches I can find for you to choose from and we'll go from there.
Can I pay in installments?
YES! This 100% possible for custom doll orders! Just send me a message after making your deposit and we'll go from there! If you're buying more than one doll and need to make the deposit in installments as well, let me know that, too! I'd be glad to arrange something for you!
WHAT MAKES FOR A GREAT REFERENCE PHOTO?
It's best to use a front facing, close-up photo as well as a full length photo, including shoes if possible. A photo of the back of the subject would be great, if possible! If there's any details you would like represented, make sure to include a photo of those as well. Please note: intricate details may not be reproduceable with the style of my dolls. If you aren't sure, send me the photos and I'll let you know if the design would need extra tweaking.
WHERE CAN I SEE YOUR WORK IN PERSON?
Click here to see to my events page. I only do a few shows a year in the Santa Cruz area for now.
HOW LONG DO THEY TAKE?
Most dolls have taken me about 8-12 hours, but given I'm a human, not a machine, that translates to about a week or two of balancing work, home & rest. Rest is needed so I can keep doing this for years, otherwise, my hands would gnarl up in the next couple of years & I'd never be able to comfortably create with yarn again. Who wants that? Not I! Now, when details such as accessories, stripes, ruffles, removable bits, heavily styled hairdos, etc. are added, more time is needed. I can give you an estimate when you place your order. If you're buying a READY-TO-SHIP doll, only the shipping info applies as those items are already done.
SHIPPING
I use UPS or USPS, depending on current pricing & your needs. If you're local to Santa Cruz County, I may be able to deliver to your home or workplace, depending on schedules & circumstances. Delivery therefore can take 1-10 days after production is complete. I will obtain & pass on a tracking number to you, if desired. As you know, sometimes there are delays within delivery service companies. I am not responsible for those instances. None of these methods are free unless I'm running promotion. When free shipping is available, it only pertains to the continental United States.
Do you really donate to charities?
YES! It took awhile to figure out my exact plan, but currently, I do donate at least 15% of all doll sale to charities, nationwide and worldwide. I realized that changing the organization monthly doesn't come to much for each cause, so beginning this year, 2022, I will only be giving to four charities. A different one for each quarter of the year. If you'd like more info, feel free to email me.
